A holiday is not a move

Story

This funny, ironic story told in first person will help you understanding how you shouldn't prepare yourself for your boat cruise

There are still 4 weeks to the beginning of our Boat Holidays, and we already start talking about it;

“We'd better get the big car, so we can load everything up,” my wife told me this morning.

“I can take the skateboard as well, can't I?” my son asked me.

It's time to write a list to make sure you don't leave important things at home, like the moka coffee maker, for example. Furthermore, we also don't really know how the weather will be; we definitely need the big suitcases. Now, at 3 weeks left to the check in at the hire boat Norfolk Broads, I realize that it would be a good idea to take also the electric scooter with me, because I may want to travel a bit around the country where we will stop. We absolutely must not forget the elegant shoes, because we will surely happen to go to some nice restaurants. Ah yes, we must remember the beach towels, too! One each, so 8 towels... well well... we almost got it. Just 2 weeks before departure, you start pulling everything out of the closets. It’ll be good to pack also 2 changes of everything, because it could rain. Let's each of us take his own suitcase, the rigid one, please, otherwise all the clothes will crease. We'll leave next week. A great idea would be to install the big trunk on the roof of the car, so that we can have more space in the car and a much more comfortable trip. It's really important to do the shopping today. Let's get the essentials to take with us, which we certainly won't find once we get there. That's right, a big shopping, so we’ll not have to stop during the trip. Today we’re finally leaving! Everybody get into the car. Is everyone here? I don't see the heads between all the backpacks. All of you, please say "here I am"!!! Perfect, let’s go then!!!

We just arrived at the boarding base where we can hire boat Norfolk Broads. It’s exactly 3 o'clock, perfect... Our houseboat is huge, spacious, white and beautiful. Let's start loading everything on board, come on. Let's empty the car together. It's 5: 00, we’ve finally taken everything on board; but what a struggle... Of course, this houseboat looked bigger before; we can’t find anything with all these suitcases and things, and honestly we also have a bit of trouble moving. Maybe, we should put some stuff back into the car in order to make some more room for us. But how can those gentlemen, who arrived with us and who have already left the moorings 2 hours ago, spend the whole week of vacation with only one small trolley each?

The Boat Holidays are over, we got back home; we had incredibly fun out there and we’ll keep this beautiful experience forever etched in our hearts. I must say that almost none of the suitcases’ contents have been used, nearly all clothes are practically still untouched. And then, on this boat we found really everything like at home, even the moka coffee maker!

Next time I must absolutely remember to leave more things at home, and I must definitely remember to take the following with me: a rain and windproof jacket, a hat, sun cream and comfortable sneakers.

Oh no! Wow. I just realized I forgot my scooter on board!!!!!! Noooooooo!
