Story

Summer in Friuli Venezia Giulia is the perfect time to discover the region's hidden treasures and enjoy the sea, sun and fun. During a houseboat vacation you can have an exciting experience and enjoy a wonderful region. Here are 4 experiences to have in Summer in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Spiaggia di sabbia dorata, mare cristallino, eventi, feste, concerti e divertimento a Lignano Sabbiadoro

Lignano Sabbiadoro: sea, fun and culture

Lignano Sabbiadoro is a tourist destination that offers everything for a fun beach vacation. Its fine golden sandy beaches, the warm waters of the Adriatic Sea and the wide range of activities such as water sports, amusement parks, discos and nightclubs make Lignano Sabbiadoro an ideal destination for families and young people looking for relaxation and fun during a houseboat vacation.
One of the unmissable moments of the Friulian summer is definitely the fireworks show in mid-August: an unmissable fireworks show!

Lignano Sabbiadoro in summer does not limit itself only to offer beach and sea, but offers a wide range of events and shows, perfect for a fun-filled vacation.
Concerts, shows, parades, tournaments, exhibitions, air shows (with the National Aerobatic Team of the Frecce Tricolori), parties and fireworks displays.

Follow all the events for an unmissable summer:

Cultura, tradizione, storia e natura tra i Casoni di Caorle

Caorle: culture and tradition

Caorle is a charming medieval seaside town that preserves its historic charm intact. Strolling through its narrow streets one can come across ancient churches, historic buildings and museums that tell the story of the town's history and traditions. Caorle is also famous for its summer festivals, such as the Sagra del Pesce (Fish Festival) and the Sagra di San Giuseppe (St. Joseph's Festival), which offer an opportunity to taste local cuisine and immerse oneself in the region's culture and traditions. Another important festival is that of San Gaetano di Caorle, where it is possible to taste gnocchi with duck sauce, fried squid, polenta and many other typical dishes, surrounded by many musical evenings that make this festival, born in 1893, a real must-see event.

One cannot fail to mention the Ciclabile tra i casoni di Caorle, a unique spectacle. This is a bicycle route that offers the chance to immerse yourself in the history of the Eastern Veneto and discover the beauty of the Venetian lagoon. The route starts from the historic center of Caorle and continues along the Trieste waterfront and Viale dei Cacciatori to the Falconeria port, passing between the countryside and the Caorle lagoon. Along the way you can admire the ancient casoni, the typical Venetian fishermen's dwellings, which are still well preserved and tell the story of this area. The bicycle path is suitable for everyone, with a well-maintained roadbed and the possibility to enjoy the surrounding landscape at a leisurely pace. The Ciclabile tra i Casoni di Caorle is a must for lovers of cycling and the history of the Veneto region.

During a houseboat vacation you will be able to discover this fantastic city and enjoy all its beauties!

Centro storico, porto, canali, mare, spiaggia, turismo, cultura e vacanza a Grado

Sabo Grando and Perdòn de Barbana: spirituality and tradition

In Grado (GO), the festivals of Sabo Grando (Great Saturday) and Perdòn de Barbana, a religious tradition held every year on the first Saturday of July on the island of Barbana, near Grado, are celebrated.

The tradition dates back to the 12th century and consists of a procession of boats carrying worshippers to the island's church to ask for forgiveness and thank the Virgin Mary.
Every year, on the first Sunday in July, the community of Grado travels by sea to the shrine of Barbana to fulfill a vow dating back to the year 1237 in thanksgiving for deliverance from the plague.
During the festival, Grado is adorned with lights, sounds and colors, rediscovering ancient folk traditions through music, dances and performances that continue late into the night. Particularly impressive is Sunday morning, with the departure of the fishing boats dressed up with flowers, flagpoles, garlands, flags and gran pavese.
The event is a combination of spirituality and folk tradition and is a unique experience to have during a houseboat vacation.

Discovering the beauty of Friuli Venezia Giulia's nature

Friuli Venezia Giulia is a region that offers a wide variety of natural landscapes, from mountains to beaches, rivers to lakes. During your houseboat vacation, don't miss the beauty of the region's nature.

You cannot avoid a stop at the Cavanata Valley Nature Reserve: a protected area, established in 1996 to safeguard the wildlife and native flora of the area. The reserve covers an area of more than 300 hectares, including lagoon, canals, wetlands, forests and brackish meadows. Due to its geographical location, the Cavanata Valley is an important stopover point for migratory birds, which find refuge here during their long journey to their wintering grounds. In addition, the reserve offers the opportunity to hike or bike along its trails and admire the area's fauna and flora, including many species of birds, including the pink flamingo and coot, and several species of plants and trees typical of the coastal area. The Cavanata Valley Nature Reserve is an ideal destination for nature lovers and those who wish to spend a day outdoors, immersed in the beauty of the Friulian lagoon.

Oasi naturali, riserve, canali e cultura gastronomica in Friuli

Another nature reserve worth visiting is that of Foci dello Stella, which includes the delta of the Stella River and the surrounding lagoon area. This protected area covers a vast territory characterized by a lush reed thicket, intersected by a winding water network that extends gently into the lagoon. The reed thicket is a constant and remarkable expression of the reserve, representing a valuable resource for wildlife in the area. The Foci dello Stella Nature Reserve is a magical and unique place where nature is expressed in all its beauty and power.

Also worth mentioning is the Valle Canal Novo Nature Reserve, where an aquarium has recently been built that allows visitors to discover the many organisms that inhabit this environment, including the wonderful Seahorse.

In short, a houseboat vacation in Friuli Venezia Giulia means immersing yourself in a wonderful and unique nature, without neglecting relaxation, culture and fun!
And of course there is no shortage of gastronomic discoveries, such as at Bepi's Libra, where fish is freshly caught and cooked in the foodtruck located in the park behind the big net.
