Summer fireworks on the water, along the Adriatic Coast in Veneto and Friuli, 14 and 15 August

Insight

The traditional way to celebrate mid-august is to admire stunning fireworks in the night, on the beach, along the Adriatic sea side.

Fireworks are used to be launched at mid-August, to celebrate the most popular holiday period of the Italian summer.

This is called ‘Ferragosto’. Fireworks shows are usually visible in many locations of the coast in Veneto and Friuli. All those places are reachable by canalboat, and it’s a pleasure to admire this event from the flybridge of a houseboat.

Here we suggest you some of the most popular dates, not to be missed.

Lignano Sabbiadoro – 2 hours far from our Precenicco base.
This is the most famous mid-summer event in the summer, attracting people from surroundings. The event takes place in the shallow and calm water in front of the beach, and the thousand colors are mirrored on the sea. The event is so intense that is know as the ‘burn of the sea’

Caorle – 5 hours far from our Precenicco base.
The event here generally takes place in the late evening of the 14th of august.

Bibione – 3 hours far from our Precenicco base.
In this summer holiday town the firework show is in the early night of the 15th of august.

Padova – 3 days of navigation from our Casale sul Sile base.
It this noble and stately city the place to be is ‘Prato della Valle’, an oval monumental square, adorned with statues and marbles, in the evening of the 14th of august.

Chioggia Sottomarina – about 2 days far from our Casale sul Sile base.
The firework show is located in the Union Island, around midnight of the evening of the 14th of august.

As you can see there are many places where you can be in the mid-august days, always by houseboat.
