Unmissable events:

• Festa della Sensa – 20th and 21st of May – this anniversary has almost 1000 years of history. It is one of the Venetians' most heartfelt festivals and commemorates their very close relationship with the sea. It will be possible to see the historic boats procession and the "marriage" of the sea
• Vogalonga – 28th of May – it is a stunning rowing regatta, in which hundreds of boats of all types compete in a non-competitive race. The racepath runs among all the islands of the lagoon north of Venice.
• Festa del Cristo Re – 3rd and 4th of June – this festival is held on the island of Sant'Erasmo, and includes outdoor activities and a series of competitive regattas with traditional rowing boats
• Sale, Sole e Mare: Chioggia – 3rd and 4th of June – the ‘little Venice’ (this is how Chioggia is called) prepares the arrival of summer; a large city festival with open-air shows, concerts and stalls.

This is just a short list of events, but many more are present in the region, and you can discover many others by navigating the Italian waterways during the Pentecost period.
